Operated by the Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation (SBTHP) for California State Parks, El Presidio de Santa Bárbara State Historic Park spans four city blocks and offers a diversity of on-site historical attractions, exhibits and dining options.

Tucked away in Santa Barbara’s historic Arts District, the Couture Pattern Museum is a rare find for travelers who seek out quiet, meaningful cultural experiences. This is not a typical walk-in museum. Due to the fragility of the garments and the archival nature of the collection, visits are available by appointment only and offered as private, guided tours by the curator.

First opened in 1941, the Museum is located in the heart of downtown in a stately building that was once the Santa Barbara Post Office. SBMA’s renowned 25,000-piece permanent collection spans both the centuries and the globe, with works ranging from classical antiquities to modern installations. 

The Santa Barbara Channel is a pillar of the city’s history and the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum (SBMM) is the perfect place to learn about it. Located in the picturesque Santa Barbara Harbor, the Maritime Museum provides exhibits and educational experiences that celebrate the vital connection between the local community and the sea.
